With help from local partners, the Pine Bluff School District was able to assist more than 45 district families with Thanksgiving meals for the holiday season, according to a news release.
More than 106 baskets were donated by the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff sororities and fraternities to the PBSD social work program and the Jefferson County Drug Court.
The giveaway was kicked off with a Thanksgiving assembly Nov. 21 at the John McLinn Ross Auditorium in the Hathaway-Howard Fine Arts Building at UAPB.
Program participants included Catherine Shorter, Gotta Play, the Yard Voices of Praise, Jalen Phillips, Ian Daniel, Pamela Moore, David Levin and Vanessa Villa.
The effort was coordinated by Dean Kara Brown and Carolyn Nelson of the Office of Student Involvement and Leadership.
Deborah Thomas and Shun Jackson, PBSD social workers, were thankful to receive the baskets on behalf of Pine Bluff School District families.
