Chris Lowery, a 22-year law enforcement veteran, announced that he’s running for for Jefferson County sheriff.
A canine officer for the Pine Bluff Police Department, Lowery and his wife also own Diamond State K9, a small business in Jefferson County that supports local jobs and community growth.
A lifelong Jefferson County resident, Lowery pledges transparency, accountability and safer communities through strong partnerships and integrity-driven leadership, according to a news release.
Born and raised in Pine Bluff, Lowery said he’s dedicated his life to service, leadership and community.
A 1992 graduate of White Hall High School, he went on to serve 11 years in the U.S. Air Force and has continued his military service as a first sergeant with the Arkansas Air National Guard’s 189th Airlift Wing.

“With more than two decades in law enforcement, Lowery currently serves as a canine officer and holds the highest law enforcement certification in Arkansas. Backed by a degree in criminal justice, his career reflects his dedication to public safety and mentorship,” according to the release.
“Whether through military service, business or law enforcement, Chris Lowery continues to embody the values of family, leadership and commitment to his community.”
Alongside his wife of more than 25 years, Kathy, Lowery is a parent of five and grandparent of 10, according to the release.

The filing period for candidates begins Nov. 3. The primary election is March 3.
