NORTH LITTLE ROCK – Oza Herring
Oza May Stewart Herring of North Little Rock, Ark., age 89, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, October 29, 2016.
She was born December 31st, 1926 near Wickes, Ark. to Ira and Laura Stewart.
A retired teacher of 35 years, she taught in Sheridan for twenty years. She enjoyed basketball, gardening, canning, and sewing, and deeply loved her family.
In 1951 she married Clarence Herring of Wickes, and became stepmother to four children. She and Clarence had three more.
She is preceded in death by her husband Clarence, parents, brother Olan Stewart, sister Bonnie Vasil, three stepsons: Clyde, Alva, and Albert Herring, and two grandchildren: Larry Herring and Warren McCall.
She is survived by a sister, Elva (Ross) Williams of Mena, Ark., stepdaughter Clara York of Searcy, Ark., sons Thomas Herring and Ira Jim (Stacy) Herring of Sheridan, Ark., daughter Evelyn (Johnny) Taylor of White Hall, Ark..
Also twenty-one grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren, seventeen great-great grandchildren, and one great-great-great grandchild.
She was a member of Hardin Baptist Church in White Hall, and a resident of Robinson Nursing Home in North Little Rock where she was the queen of bingo, using her prizes as gifts for her family.
Visitation: Tuesday, 6-8pm, Memorial Gardens in Sheridan. Funeral: Wednesday 10am, Memorial Gardens Interment: Wednesday 2:30pm, Daniels Cemetery in Wickes Bro. Johnny Taylor and Michael Walton officiating.
