Help the veterans
Editor, The Commercial:
I see “Wounded Warrior Fund” appeals on TV. If “Heel Spurs” who evaded the draft hadn’t spent $43-plus million on his birthday party using the military for entertainment and instead had used it for veterans’ care, why would they be now in need?
I’ve never seen a scripture where Jesus or His Apostles ever boasted of being congratulated by either Caesar or Caligula. The scripture says “God hates a liar,” so I wonder about one that feels honored to be noted by our pathological liar of a president. “Birds of a feather flock together.” So what are we to think of one proud to be in the flock with those who denigrate our country and those in it who still have some integrity and honor as well?
If the preacher would read the paper he uses to print his self congratulations, he’d be be aware of the president’s actions that have resulted in Myanmar (July 21 PBC) having babies, mothers and the elderly starving to death. That is only one of several places he’s done that by “executive orders” to save one percent of the U.S. budget in foreign aid!

He shouldn’t dislocate his shoulder patting himself on the back. The scripture is replete with admonishments for us that we are not to act for man’s approval. God sees all, and if our motivation is to honor God, he will reward us openly. If we do our own self praise before men, it reveals our true motivation is self glorification.
