OPINION | LETTER TO THE EDITOR: 10 Commandments Project

Jesse Turner

Project planning

Editor, The Commercial:

The Pine Bluff Faith Community Coalition Ministerial Alliance, along with Pastors on Patrol, a faith-based mentoring movement, will be hosting an important planning meeting on Tuesday, June 17. During this gathering, we will come together to discuss the meaningful initiative of displaying 16-by-20-inch copies of the Ten Commandments in classrooms, principals’ offices and other key areas within the Pine Bluff, Watson Chapel and White Hall school districts.

We invite faith leaders to join us at the Donald W. Reynolds Community Services Center, 211 W. Third Ave., at noon for this impactful meeting. Together, let’s foster a positive and nurturing environment for our students and community. Also attending and supporting the Ten Commandments Project is Toni Rose with the American History and Heritage.

This project was inspired by Gov. Sarah H. Sanders’ recent signing of Act 573 of 2025, which encourages the display of the Ten Commandments. We sincerely thank Superintendents Jennifer Barbaree, Keith McGee, and Gary Williams for their support of the Ten Commandments Project.

Our Faith-Based Ten Commandments Project is dedicated to reducing early instances of domestic violence, delinquency and gang-related activities among our youth. We have seen encouraging results, such as the incredible success at Thirty-Fourth Avenue Elementary School, which reported a whopping 75% decrease in discipline referrals after participating in the 2024 Pastors on Patrol “B.U.S. Boycott of Negative Behaviors Challenge.”
