The Jefferson County Office of Emergency Management asks any resident to call OEM if they had storm shelters installed at their residences since December 2011. The shelters need to be verified by local officials.
All applications will be kept on file at the county office and if eligible, will receive funding as it becomes available through the State’s Storm Shelter Rebate Program. In December 2010, the Arkansas Department of Emergency Management suspended the shelter rebate program due to the number of applications submitted and the funding for 2011 and 2012 being obligated.
Residents should continue to check the www.adem.arkansas.gov website for funding updates. Information will be released when ADEM begins to again accept applications. To have shelters verified or for details, call OEM at 541-5470.
