Nettleton dumps Sylvan Hills, 3-1

MONTICELLO — Ethan Moore allowed Sylvan Hills one hit, and four Nettleton players each had two hits as the Raiders stunned the 5A-Southeast Conference runner-up Bears 3-1 on Thursday in a 5A state baseball first-round game.

Moore struck out nine Bears and allowed three walks for the win. Jake Smith, Ed Bauer, Nick Brown and Alex Camp each had two hits for Nettleton (21-10).

Connor Eller laced the only hit for Sylvan Hills (23-8), an RBI single in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Nettleton will play Vilonia at noon today at Burlington Field.

Vilonia 2, Magnolia 1

Vilonia got two runs in sixth inning to claim a 2-1 win over Magnolia on Thursday.

Bryan Ayers struck out 10 batters to get the win for Vilonia (16-14), the fourth seed out of the West. Nathan Taylor and Hunter Henderson drove in the two runs in the sixth inning.

Blake White took the loss as he struck out 10 in seven innings for Magnolia (19-6), the No. 1 seed from the Southwest.

Hot Springs Lakeside 1

Austin Suter struck out 13 batters and pitched one-hit ball in leading the Bulldogs (24-5) past the Rams (17-12).

Suter held the Rams scoreless until the seventh inning. Justin Sunde, Brya Bass and Suter each had two hits offensively for Greenwood.

The Bulldogs scored six runs in the third inning to take an 8-0 lead.

Central Arkansas Chr. 2

Seven Harrison batters had at least one hit and Brett Emerson fanned six batters in a four-run victory.

Dalton Lovell went 3 for 3 with two RBIs to lead the Goblins (23-6). Brandon Curry, Jacob Hedges, Tate Stokes, Chance Covan, Brett Edmonson and Brady Burlsworth each added a hit.

Dillon Richardson went 2 for 3 to lead CAC (14-14).

Harrison will meet Greene County Tech at noon today.
