JACKSONVILLE — Sidney Bonner struck out eight batters and held Van Buren to four hits as Sheridan started 6A state softball tournament play with a 6-2 victory Thursday.
Allison Stipes and Bonner each connected on three hits for Sheridan (26-4), which will play the Searcy vs. Pine Bluff winner at 2:30 p.m. today. Morgan White had two hits and Brooke LaRue batted in three runs on one hit.
Sheridan had a shutout until Van Buren scored its two runs with two out in the top of the seventh.
Searcy 18, Pine Bluff 0
JACKSONVILLE — Pine Bluff gave up 11 walks and five hit batters, and Searcy lined only five hits in a three-inning victory.

White Hall 7, Greene County Tech 0
WYNNE — Sydnee Clark held Greene County Tech to three hits as White Hall advances in the 5A state tournament with a 7-0 win on Thursday.
White Hall (22-7) pounded out 14 hits in the win. Jessica Ashcraft was 3 for 3 with four RBIs and Lindsey Williams was 3 for 3 with a double for the Lady Bulldogs.
Clark struck out six batters in the win and did not walk anyone in her seven innings of work.
White Hall plays at noon today against Hope, the top seed from the West.
Beebe 9, Watson Chapel 1
WYNNE — A number of errors hurt Watson Chapel, which saw its season end with a 9-1 loss to Beebe on Thursday in the first-round.
Watson Chapel (24-9) had five errors in the game and Maegan Greer pitched all seven innings in the loss.
Lexie Downing had two hits for Watson Chapel, which had four hits in the game.
Wynne 6, Monticello 0
WYNNE — Wynne held Monticello to one hit in a 6-0 win in the first round of the state tournament.
Morgan Hopper took the loss for Monticello against Wynne, the top seed from the East. Parker Palsa had the lone hit for the Lady Billies.
The Lady Billies’ season ends with a record of 20-9.
