The Pine Bluff branch of the local National Association of University Women recently donated books to the Boys and Girls Club of Jefferson County.
The mission of NAUW is to serve women, youth and the disadvantaged in their communities and in developing countries by addressing educational issues and strategically partnering with allied organizations.
Boys and Girls Club Area Manager James M. Britt said that the books will encourage the youth to read more.
Club CEO Nyeshia Aldridge said that most young people lose about two months worth of math and literacy skills during the summer break. She said that the donated books will allow the club to conduct its summer reading trivia program to help keep the students on track.
