NARFE federal retirees plan meeting

Pine Bluff Chapter 287 of National Active and Retired Federal Employees will meet at 11:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 27, at the Donald W. Reynolds Community Services Building, 211 W. Third Ave.

The keynote speaker will be Tom Nisbett, founder and owner of The Nisbett Group (TNG), a consulting firm, that teaches nonprofit organizations how to apply the lessons of adventure travel and risk-taking in strategic planning, according to a news release.

He is also a resource economist, writer and mountaineer.

“Dr. Nisbett retired after 20 years as a university professor and for the past 10 years he has been exploring and guiding organizations through changing times with teamwork and innovation. With his avocation of mountain climbing, he is a popular speaker in the Arkansas Delta with many hazardous, some icy, adventure experiences to relate,” according to the release.

Meanwhile, during the meeting, Waymond Meins will report on pending congressional legislation affecting federal employees and federal retirees.
