Mary Haynes


STAR CITY – Mary Mina Jacks Haynes, 100, of Star City, died Wednesday at Gardner Nursing Home. She was born August 28, 1915 in Rest, AR to the late Alphew and Cornelia “Nealie” Etta Owen.

She was a homemaker and had worked as a cosmetologist and airplane mechanic in the 1940s. She was an elder of Shell Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She was a former member of the Home Demonstration Club and was also a member of the 4-H Club during 3 different decades.

Also preceding her in death were her husband, Miles T. “M.T” Haynes; brothers, Havis Jacks, Calvin Jacks, Homer Jacks, Glen Jacks, Hollin Jacks; and sisters, Florence Chance, Ola Mae Waggner, Laura Parker.

Survivors include two sons, Michael Haynes, Mark Haynes, both of Star City; one daughter, Beth Sharp of Batesville; one sister, Adith Axley of Star City; seven grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Griffin Funeral Service in Star City. Burial will be in Hickory Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
