Man’s roadside death subject of investigation

The Arkansas State Police are investigating the death of a 26-year-old man who was near Arkansas 54 in Pine Bluff on Wednesday.

State Police said in a news release Monday evening they responded to a call of a vehicle collision on the highway. A driver reported striking an unknown object while traveling eastbound on Arkansas 54, according to the release.

Pine Bluff and state police, along with Jefferson County sheriff’s officials, searched the area and found Jajuan Meadows, 26, of Pine Bluff, deceased in an area west of Ramick Road. Meadows’ body was transported to the state Crime Lab to determine the cause of death.

Special agents from the State Police Criminal Investigation Division will prepare an investigative file to submit to the Jefferson County prosecuting attorney, who will then determine if charges will be filed against the driver, State Police said.
