A man who reportedly led Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies and state troopers on a high-speed chase along Interstate 530 Monday was arrested following a tactical vehicle intervention near Redfield that resulted in no injuries.
Arkansas State Police said in a news release the sheriff’s office requested assistance in pursuing Deandre Brothers, 29, whom they say was a fleeing suspect wanted on suspicion of terroristic threatening, aggravated assault and resisting arrest. State troopers took the lead on the pursuit at about 11:30 a.m., as the suspect reportedly reached speeds of 125 mph and nearly collided with other vehicles.
A trooper performed the tactical vehicle intervention near the Redfield exit (Exit 20), according to state police. The suspect’s vehicle crossed the median into the southbound lanes and collided with a van. The civilian who drove the van was not injured, state police said.
“The suspect exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended by JCSO deputies,” state police said. “A passenger in the suspect’s vehicle was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. No law enforcement officers were injured.”
The incident remains under investigation, according to state police, adding additional charges against Brothers are pending.
“This suspect (was) endangering the lives of countless motorists traveling on I-530,” State Police Director Col. Mike Hagar said. “We thank God no one was seriously injured as a result of his reckless decision to flee from law enforcement.”
