A man has been booked in the W.C. “Dub” Brassell jail after reportedly telling deputies he shot his girlfriend Friday night.
Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies responded to a reported domestic disturbance at 5120 Sassafras Trail, northwest of White Hall, and encountered a male identified as Scottie Glover, 56, leaving the residence. According to a news release, Glover reportedly advised deputies that he shot Donna Holder, 56, with whom he had been in a relationship for about 15 years.
Glover was immediately taken into custody without incident, the sheriff’s office said. He was booked at 5:14 a.m. Saturday on suspicion of capital murder and possession of firearm by certain persons, according to online jail records.
Holder’s body was located at the residence and was transported to the state Crime Laboratory.

“Any loss of life is tragic, but incidents involving domestic violence are especially heartbreaking because they often unfold behind closed doors and leave families forever changed,” Sheriff Lafayette Woods Jr. said. “Our deputies responded quickly, secured the scene and took the suspect into custody. We ask the public to keep the loved ones of Ms. Holder in their thoughts and prayers as this investigation continues.”
The sheriff’s office said in its release it extends its “deepest condolences” to Holder’s family and loved ones.
