Pine Bluff Police assisted multiple agencies in apprehending a male wanted in connection with the Nov. 2 shooting death of a teenager at J.B. Bryant Park in Stuttgart.
Stuttgart Police requested Pine Bluff Police’s help in locating and taking Lemontae Thompson into custody. Thompson was apprehended outside Pine Bluff city limits, according to a news release.
It was not indicated where Thompson is housed or when he faces a court hearing, as the U.S. Marshals Service also assisted in the apprehension. The Marshals Service typically does not release information on the location of someone who has been arrested.
Other agencies assisting include Arkansas State Police, Arkansas County and Jefferson County sheriff’s offices, Tri-County Task Force, and the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission.
“Your efforts and partnership play a vital role in keeping Stuttgart safe,” Stuttgart Police said in a Facebook news release. “We continue to keep Mr. Jones’ family in our thoughts and prayers as they continue to find strength and comfort working through this time of loss and healing.”
John Worthen, Pine Bluff Police Department public relations specialist, added: “The PBPD wishes to express our condolences to Jones’ family. We are glad we could be of service in helping our partner agencies bring this suspect into custody.”
