Loyal Mixon


WHITE HALL – Loyal D. Mixon, age 87, of White Hall, passed away Friday, April 17, 2015.

He was born June 14, 1927 in Andrews, South Carolina, where he finished high school. His parents were the late Charles Gary Mixon and Virginia Barrineau Mixon.

Mr. Mixon began working for International Paper Company in Georgetown, South Carolina and was transferred to the Pine Bluff mill in 1958. He was a digester operator, and retired in 1993 after 47 years of service.

A long-time member of New Harvest Church of God, he loved his church and enjoyed making music and could play numerous instruments by ear. He worked hard all his life.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by three brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Lee Moore Mixon, whom he married on September 23, 1948 in Andrews, South Carolina; his children, Eric Mixon, Glenn Mixon, Wayne Mixon, and Karen Mixon Copeland; a sister, Geneva Futch; five grandsons; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 21, 2015, 3:00 p.m. at New Harvest Church of God with Pastor Travis Creekmore and Brother Windell Belford officiating. Interment will follow in Cypress Memorial Gardens by Fuller Hale-South Funeral Services.

Visitation will be Monday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
