Locals earn top titles at MLB Pitch, Hit & Run

Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit & Run drew several participants from southeast Arkansas, according to Jeff Gross of PRO-DAY Baseball, who hosted the event Thursday at Taylor Field in Pine Bluff.

“We had several cities represented at this year’s Pitch, Hit & Run, which included Star City, Warren, Woodlawn, Rison, Hermitage, White Hall and Pine Bluff,” Gross said.

Baseball “Top” performers included:

Ages 7-8: Evan McCoskey, 670 points

Ages 9-10: Charlie Ramirez, 850 points

Ages 11-12: Bentley Gober, 720 points

In the softball division, Tinsley Poss (ages 11-12) won for the second consecutive year and outscored all baseball and softball participants with 865 points.

Bellamy Reed captured the “Best Score” in girls ages 7-8 with 575 points.

The final overall baseball/softball point totals:

1. Tinsley Poss, 865

2. Charlie Ramirez, 850

3. Jensen Hipp, 805

4. Ryler Shell, 795

5. Jarius Higgins, 780

6. Bentley Gober, 720

7. Bryson Byerly, 695

8. Evan McCoskey, 670

9. Brantley Reed, 660

11. Bellamy Reed, 575

12. Elijah Furlow, 545

13. Audrey McCoskey, 440

“The scores were very close in all categories and could have gone either way by one swing or pitch,” Gross said. “Lots of potential for these boys and girls in the future.”
