MCGEHEE — Lloyd Bowman, 84, of McGehee, passed away Friday January 13, 2012, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff, Ark.
Mr. Bowman was born December 3, 1927, in Decatur, Ala., to the late William Percy Bowman and Mary Etnar Gillespie. He was married to Joy Bowman on October 4, 1950, at Sunflower, Miss. The family moved to McGehee, Ark., about 1967 when Mr. Bowman bought the Western Auto Store. He was a WWII veteran and attended the McGehee First Assembly of God Church.
Mr. Bowman was preceded in death by his wife Joy Bowman March 17, 2004 and reunited in Heaven on January 13, 2012. He is also preceded by a sister Mae Lois Collier and granddaughter Leah Vanzant.
Survivors include one son, Allen Bowman and wife Susan of McGehee, Ark.; three daughters, Glenda Young and husband Charles of Benton, Ark., Gaye Vanzant and husband Steve of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Gail Lindberg and husband Allen of Collierville, Tenn.; One brother Rayford Bowman of Pass Christian, Miss.; three sisters: Ilava Rouse of Pearl, Miss., Mildred Cain of Purvis, Miss., and Elaine Jenkins of Coldwater, Miss.; Grandchildren, Lloyd Allen Bowman II and wife Laine of McGehee, Ark., Allyson Bowman and Lindsey Bowman of McGehee, Ark., Charity Evans and husband Darrell of Lacey, Wash., Jake Vanzant and wife Tiffany of Ft. Worth, Texas, Will and Hillary Lindberg of Collierville, Tenn., Tonya Young of Austin, Texas, and Stephanie Young of Benton, Ark.; nine great-grandchildren.
Home going services for Mr. Bowman will be held at 11 a.m. Monday January 16, 2012, at Griffin-Culpepper Funeral Chapel with Dr. Tommy Cunningham and Rev. Steve Vanzant officiating.
Visitation will be Sunday 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at McGehee Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be members of the family.
