Lake Village International Concert set May 3

The IBLA Grand Prize winners will conduct a free concert at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 3, at the Lakeside High School auditorium at Lake Village.

The seventh annual Lake Village International Concert will feature winners of the 2016 IBLA Foundation Grand Prize International Competitions, according to a press release.

“Hailing from five countries in Europe, Asia and North America, the winning musicians tour the United States before a final performance at the world famous Carnegie Hall in New York City. This is a rare musical occasion for Lake Village and Southeast Arkansas,” a spokesman said in the release.

Celebrating its 26th anniversary, the competition is held each year in early summer in Sicily in the Baroque city of Ragusa-Ibla.

Winners of the 2016 competitions include Joan Zumwalt, chair, IBLA Arkansas; Sherman Banks, vice chair IBLA Arkansas, juror, concert director; Alan Storeygard, board IBLA Arkansas, juror, IBLA winner 2002; Salvatore Moltisanti, IBLA president, pianist, and artistic director; Mario Assenza, baritone – Italy, Francesco Barone, percussion – Italy, Elia Cecino, piano – Italy, Kojiro Fujihara, Trombone – Japan, Tamara Licheli, piano – Georgia, Giulia Lo Giudice, percussion – Italy, Michal Gajda, accordion – Poland, Kyoko Harada, piano – Japan, Gaspare Renna, percussion – Italy, Julia Wolanska, piano – Poland, and Alan Storeygard, piano, IBLA Winner, 2002 – Arkansas.
