Mr. John H. Whaley, 80, of Pine Bluff transitioned on May 15, 2016 at JRMC surrounded by family. He was born April 4, 1936 to the late John and Mattie Whaley in Lincoln County. He attended school at Mt. Nebo. He accepted Christ in 1960 and joined Polk Chapel MBC under the leadership of Mitchell Gatson and was a faithful member.
John was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Pearline Land, Mosezell Whaley and Ruby Suell.
He leaves to cherish his memories, a loving and devoted wife of 53 years-Clara Whaley; sons, Larry Whaley, Cardell Whaley McDonald, John Whaley, III, Robert Earl Whaley, Sr., Gary Whaley, Jimmy Brooks, and Fredrick Boykins; daughters, Pauline Tucker, Gracie Palmer, Lori Ann Golden, Mattie Whaley, Brenda Neal, Lisa Whaley, and LaKesha Whitman; sisters, Irma J. Jackson, Vessie Joness, Ocielean Anderson, Elder Gracie Jackson; 57 grandchildren, 59 great-grand children, six great-great grandchildren; a special nephew, Tarence Whaley and a special brother-in-law, Gilbert Suell and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday May 21, 2016 at Polk Chapel MBC in Yorktown at 1 p.m. with a visitation on Friday May 20, 2016 at 5-7 p.m. at Christian Way Funeral Home.
The body will lie in-state from 12 p.m. until time of service.
