John Bennett Robertson, Jr., 82 of Dumas was born May 26, 1930 in Pickens. He was the son of the late, John Bennett Robertson, Sr., and Graydell Preston Robertson. Mr. Robertson retired from the Arkansas Army National Guard, after 42 years of service. He was a member of First Baptist Church. Mr. Robertson departed this life in Dumas, Arkansas on September 14, 2012. His parents, two brothers, Tommy and Kenneth Robertson and his sister, Lawanda Robertson preceded him in death.
Survivors are wife Velva Dean Robertson, Dumas, son, Roger Minor Robertson of Dallas, Texas and two daughters, Barbara Jane (David) Risner of McGehee, and Shirley Ann (Jon) Walters of Dumas, two brothers, Joe Robertson of Tillar and Robert Robertson of Tillar, his six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Visitation held 5-7 p.m., September 15, 2012, Griffin Funeral Home Chapel, Dumas, Arkansas. Funeral services held 2:30 p.m., Sunday, September 16, 2012, First Baptist Church with Rev. Don Moore officiating, followed by burial in Walnut Lake Cemetery. Memorials made to First Baptist Church or Delta Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Griffin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
