WHITE HALL – Joe McArthur Lewis, 71, of White Hall, passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2015. He was born October 20, 1943 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas to the late Claud and Martha Irma Bruce Lewis. He was a 1961 graduate of Dollarway High School and a welder for Cotton Belt Railroad. Joe attended First Baptist Church-White Hall and had coached softball for a number of years in the White Hall Softball program where he coached PBNB softball team. He was former White Hall Alderman and a member of the Lewis and Rhoden Hunting Club.
Joe is survived by his wife, Ruthie Calvert Lewis, whom he married August 18, 1961; daughters, Terri(Dion) Smith and Stephanie(Jeff) Elkins; mother-in-law, Dorothy Gresham; grandchildren, Daniel Franklin, Sydney Smith and Jessica Elkins; brother, Bruce Lewis; sister, Claudette Flynn; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday before the service. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church-White Hall, building fund. The family will be at 305 Regal Oaks Circle, White Hall.
