WHITE HALL – Joan O. Kenward, age 81, of White Hall passed away on Friday, September 12, 2014. Early on the morning of August 12, 1933, a 9 lb. baby girl was born to Carrie and Ted Hickerson of Bragg City, MO. She was named Joan Ouida Hickerson. When she grew to be four years old, her parents moved her to Arkansas. She attended schools at Cornerstone, Altheimer, and Wabbaseka. Soon after graduation, she married Bill Brown and bore four children. That marriage ended after ten years and she met and married Jack Kenward. The nine children of these two marriages were Judith, Dan, Susan, Art, Holly, Stephen, Laura, Tami and Randy. And then, surprise, surprise, she and Jack were blessed with twins, Jack and Joni. “There were no step-children in the family!” She also raised a granddaughter, Kati, for a total of 12 children. She resided in White Hall with granddaughters Jodi and Kati.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jack and children Dan, Judith and Tami. She had 27 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. She worked most of her career for the Western Union Company. She served as organist and pianist at several local Baptist churches throughout the years, and was a member of Central Baptist Church.
