Joan Johnson


Joan Freeman Johnson, 82, of Pine Bluff, was born September 24, 1929 in Pine Bluff and went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on August 2, 2012.

She has been a life-long member of Immanuel Baptist Church and, being a member of the adult choir, enjoyed singing.

Mrs. Johnson was reared and received her early education in Pine Bluff, graduating from Pine Bluff High School in 1948.

She was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Reloy, in 2005; her parents, B.F. and Ruby Paty Freeman; and sister, Lea Murphy.

Survivors include one sister, Pat Stern of Georgetown, Colo.; two daughters, Gail Nix (David) of White Hall and Janice Johnson of East End; two grandsons, Justin Nix and Tim Nix (Sol); granddaughter, Rachel Dickerson (Brian); three great-grandchildren, Josie and Jessica Nix and Bryson Dickerson;one nephew, Bob (Buck) Mitchell from near Abilene, Texas; and two nieces, Susan and Meg.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Home Care, 3063 West 28th Avenue, Pine Bluff, Arkansas 71603.

A graveside memorial service will be 4:00 p.m., Saturday, August 4, 2012 at Bellwood Annex Cemetery with Reverend Paul Roberts officiating.

The family will be at 1507 Dancing Rabbit in Pine Bluff.
