Jesse Inman, Jr.


Jesse Baker Inman, Jr., 78, of Pine Bluff, was received in Heaven on January 9, 2012. He was born August 24, 1933 in Marvell, Ark. to the late Jesse Baker and Maude Speakman Inman Sr.

In 1965 Mr. Inman moved to Pine Bluff and began his career operating several service stations culminating with Jesse’s Exxon at 28th and Highway 79. Mr. Inman excelled himself on customer service and had many loyal customers throughout the years. In addition to sponsoring several Little League Teams, he was also generous to those needing a helping hand. Mr. Inman was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the United State Navy. Jesse’s walk with the Lord began in 1974. Through out the years, he served as a Sunday School teacher, a deacon, worked with Gideon International and with Awana Programs. Mr. Inman was a member of Watson Chapel Baptist Church. He was a faithful servant of God. His first question to everyone he met was “Where are you going to church?” His walk with the Lord always included witnessing to others as he was first witnessed to in 1974 by Mr. Bill Ferren. As a family we are so thankful. He was a faithful servant of God, a wonderful husband and father. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Billy Ray Inman.

He is survived by his wife, Vera F. Wolfe Inman, who he married September 24, 1955; son, Billy (Valerie) Inman of Newport, Ark.; daughters, Ellen (Billy) Walker of Fairfield Bay, Linda (Michael) Cope o f Sheridan; six grandchildren, Richard, Michael Walker, Paul Lampkin, Kristen Coins, Jessica Cope, Peyton Inman; five great grandchildren; brothers, Jerry of Alton, Ill., Clarence of Rison, Willard and Robert both of Brighton, Ill., Terry of Wood River, Ill., Jackie of East Alton, Ill.; sisters, Lelia Poss of Rison, Bernice Foster of White Hall.

Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Thursday at Watson Chapel Baptist Church with Bro. Todd Howard and Bro. Billy Inman officiating. Visitation will be from 12 noon until service time Thursday at the church.

Memorials can be made to Gideon’s International or to the Awana at Watson Chapel Baptist Church.

The family will be at their home.

Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Cranford Funeral Home of White Hall.
