Jerry Lee Grandy was born in Pine Bluff on November 24, 1958. He was the fourth child born to Rufus and Hattie Grandy. He accepted Christ at an early age and joined Mt. Pleasant AME Church.
Jerry received his early education in Dollarway School district and graduated from Dollarway High School in 1977. In 1981 he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Auto Technology Management from the University of Arkansas at pine Bluff. While in college he completed an internship at the Arsenal in Rock Island, IL and worked there for several years. After moving back to Pine Bluff he was employed by Dollarway High School and worked there for 24 years.
Hunting, fishing, cooking, working on cars, working puzzle an playing dominoes were Jerrys favorite leisure activities.
Jerry Lee Grandy departed this life on October 1, 2014. He was preceded in death by his parents. He leaves a legacy of love and cherished memories to his two sons: Jerrell Grandy or Manhattan, KS and Mario Drumgool of Austin, TX; Brothers, Rufus (Vester) Grandy, Jesse Grandy, Willis (Rebecca) Grandy all of Pine Bluff; Sisters, Nettie Kindall of Shreveport, LA, Ophelia Grandy, Patricia (Gerald) Jones, Teresa (Anthony) Hadley all of Pine Bluff; Uncle, Napoleon (Chris) Grandy of Dumas; Aunts Eleresa Smith and Lula Pearl Withers of Detroit, MI; Special cousin Raymond Parker; Adopted brother, Shahn Lee; special childhood friends, Manuel Owens, Mitchell Williams, York Wilburn and Spurgeon Lorett. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other friends.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at Mt Pleasant AME Church. Internment will be in Graceland Cemetery by Perry Funeral Home of Pine Bluff. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-7p.m. at Perry Funeral Home.
