The Jones-Dunklin Cancer Center at Jefferson Regional Medical Center and INNOVACORE Center for Research & Biotechnology have announced a strategic partnership aimed at enhancing cancer research and care for Southeast Arkansas communities, according to a news release.

The collaboration is dedicated to improving outcomes for rural and underserved populations with an initial focus on advancing clinical research at Jones-Dunklin, according to Jefferson Regional.

“At Jefferson Regional, our mission is to provide high-quality care to the communities we serve,” said Brian Campbell, M.D., oncologist and hematologist at Jefferson Regional. “Partnering with INNOVACORE allows us to bring new opportunities, including clinical trials and research-driven care, directly to patients in Southeast Arkansas. This is a significant step forward for our region and for families who deserve access to the latest advancements without having to travel long distances.”

Jones-Dunklin began offering clinical trials several years ago, according to Jefferson Regional. The partnership with INNOVACORE builds on that foundation and opens the door to greater possibilities for advancing cancer care and research in the region, it adds.

The partnership will bring cutting-edge clinical trials closer to home, strengthen cancer care services in Southeast Arkansas and drive innovation in cancer prevention, early detection and treatment, according to the release. Jones-Dunklin and INNOVACORE aim to create what they call a scalable, patient-centered model for community integrated cancer research.

“This partnership reflects a simple principle: breakthrough clinical research must reach the communities where need is greatest,” said Sohail Rao, M.D., M.A, D.Phil., INNOVACORE CEO. “By aligning our research capabilities with Jefferson Regional’s trusted local care, we can accelerate access to trials, elevate oncology care standards and build a sustainable model that serves patients with dignity, equity and urgency.”
