Jefferson County sees decline in number of homes sold in April

Jefferson County saw a decrease in the number of homes that were sold in April 2015 compared to April 2014, according to a report released Tuesday by the Arkansas Realtors Association.

Twenty-six homes were sold in April 2015 in Jefferson County, compared with 31 homes in April 2014 in the same area. For the year-to-date, 108 houses have been sold this year in Jefferson County, compared with 100 by the same time in 2014.

The average price of new and existing homes sold in Jefferson County in April 2015 was $88,961, compared to $87,729 in April 2014. Comparative figures for all counties surveyed were $169,253 in April 2015 and $150,426 in April 2014.

Statewide, year-over-year home sale prices for April 2015 increased by 5.1 percent from April 2014, among the counties that the Realtors Association surveys. The average price of the homes sold in the counties surveyed by the association increased from $148,623 in April 2014 to $156,068 in April 2015.

The counties where the most units were sold in April 2015 were in Benton, Pulaski, Washington, Saline and Faulkner counties.

Elsewhere in Southeast Arkansas, the Realtors Association collects information on Grant County, where 13 homes were sold in April 2015, compared with eight homes in April 2014. For the year-to-date in Grant County, 28 homes had sold so far this year, compared with 31 by the same month last year.
