Jefferson County Road Report for the week of 11-20-16

The roads that were repaired and work done by the Jefferson County Road Department:

Nov. 3

Patching Crew: Filled potholes on Quattlebaum Road. Grader Operator: Graded Abernathy Road, Sweeney Road, Skoal Road, Abrabian Road, Crane Cove and German Springs Road. Boom Mower Operator: Cleaned around bridge on Altheimer East Bridge.

Nov. 4

Patching Crew: Filled potholes on Cherrywood Avenue. Culvert Crew: Filled in the cave-in on State Farm Road with C-Ballast. Truck Driver: Hauled 23.71 tons of C-Ballast from Granite Mountain Quarries to State Farm Road; 71.28 tons of SB2 from Granite Mountain Quarries to Wagon Trace Road. Grader Operator: Graded Cactus Trail, Walker Road, Hartley Dump Road, Richmond Core Road, German Springs Road and Johnson Road.

Boom Mower Operator: Cut right-of-way on Cook Road, South Evans Road, Lisa Road and Butram Road. Cut Grass on Sewer Pond Road, Ponderosa Road and Butram Road. Environmental Office: Checked county roads for illegal dumping and trashy yards.

Nov. 7

Patching Crew: Filled potholes on Cecilwood Road, Budwood Avenue and Wolfe Road. Culvert Crew: Installed an 18” X 20’ extension onto a concrete culvert on Whiteville Road and covered it with 10 yards of SB2. Set Up Crew: Resurfaced Wagon Trace Road.

Truck Driver: Hauled 23.69 tons of C-Ballast, 46.16 tons of D-Ballast and 23.18 tons of SB2 from Granite Mountain Quarries to Wagon Trace Road and 10 yards of SB2 to Whiteville Road and 132 yards of SB2 to Gibb Anderson. Hauled 254.29 tons of Asphalt from Pine Bluff Sand and Gravel to Wagon Trace Road.

Grader Operator: Graded Wilson Road, Mulberry Grove Road, Danaher Road, Guenther Road and Leslie Road. Graded Gibb Anderson Road and spread 132 yards of SB2 on the road. Boom Mower: Cut right-of-way on Thomas Road and Sunset Road.

Nov. 8

Patching Crew: Filled potholes on Handley Road and Craig Drive. Culvert Crew: Removed dead trees and debris from fallen trees on Whiteville Road, Gaddy Koonce Road, Princeton Pike Road. Removed fallen trees from Brown Cemetery Road and spread seven yards of SB2 on the road.

Truck Driver: Hauled 47.88 tons of SB2 from Granite Mountain Quarries to Gibb Anderson Road. Hauled 276.923 gallons of CRS2 from Ergon Asphalt and Emulsions, Inc. to Todd Lynn Drive.

Grader Operator: Graded Wampler Spur Road, Tucker Road, Vandalsen Road, Tower Road, Honey Bee Road and Red Hall Road. Graded Brown Cemetery Road and spread seven yards of SB2 on the road and spread 80 yards of SB2 on Mulberry Grove Road.

Boom Mower Operator: Cut grass in ditches on Boys Training School Road. Environmental Officer: Checked county roads for illegal dumping and trashy yards.

Cardboard is a big source of revenue for the recycling center. Businesses call to set up a pickup for cardboard at their location and it is picked up and taken to the recycling center on Gravel Pit Road where it is bailed for the source that has been contracted to recycle the cardboard.

The Jefferson County Road Department has a mechanic shop that does various mechanic jobs on the county’s heavy equipment. At times equipment breaks down on the job and a crew is dispatched to repair the equipment on site. Also cars and trucks that belong to Jefferson County are serviced and repairs are made in the mechanic shop at Jefferson County Road Department.

All logging companies and construction companies that haul heavy loads over the Jefferson County roads are required to be bonded in order to use the county roads in Jefferson County.
