A $25,000 bond was set Monday for a man who allegedly kicked the door open at his girlfriend’s house and threatened her with a gun.
Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Tirek Langel, 18, with aggravated residential burglary and terroristic threatening.
According to a probable cause affidavit from Pine Bluff Police Department Detective Temmionthy Johnson, police were sent to a reported disturbance at a house in the 3900 block of Lincoln Green on Nov. 8 in response to a reported disturbance.
The juvenile female victim said she and Langel, who she identified as her boyfriend, had gotten into an altercation in front of the house, and he allegedly threw her to the ground, resulting in abrasions to her shoulder, elbow and face.
Johnson reported that during the altercation, Langel dropped his cell phone and the alleged victim picked it up, ran into the house and locked the door. Langel allegedly began beating on the door and said to give him his phone back, then went to a vehicle, where he got a black handgun and allegedly told the girl that if she didn’t give him the phone, he would kick the door down and shoot her.
Independent reporting for Pine Bluff & Jefferson County since 1879.
He then allegedly kicked the door in, and police reported that there were pieces of broken wood from where the deadbolt and door frame met. Langel allegedly came in the house with the gun and told the girl to give him the phone or he would hit her in the face.
Johnson reported that the girl gave Langel the phone and he ran out of the house.
Langel was arrested Thursday, and when he was interviewed, he allegedly said he and the girl had gotten into an argument. He said when he tried to walk away, she hit him in the back of the head with a “hard decorative ball” and said when he turned around, “she attacked him” and he threw her to the ground. He then said he dropped his phone, which the girl picked up and ran into the house.
He also allegedly said he went to the car and got a handgun, kicked open the door of the house and got his phone before leaving.
Langel was ordered to have no contact with the alleged victim until the case is settled.
He said he would hire his own attorney.
