The Jefferson County Retired Teachers Association recently announced activities for 2017-18. The meetings are held at the Donald W. Reynolds Community Services Center, 211 W. Third Ave. The cost of breakfast or lunch is $6 and reservations are required. Breakfast is free for new retirees.
The Retired Teachers Association activities include:
Thursday, Sept. 21 — 9:30 a.m., Retired Teachers Association Breakfast. An Arkansas Retired Teachers Association insurance specialist will provide information.
Thursday, Oct. 19 — Lunch at 11:30 a.m. The speaker will be the Arkansas Retired Teachers Association and ARA executive director.
Thursday, Nov. 16 — Lunch at 11:30 a.m. The speaker will be Pine Bluff Mayor Shirley Washington.

Thursday, Feb. 15 — Lunch at 11:30 a.m. The program will be Volunteers in Public Schools and the Retired Senior Volunteer Program.
Thursday, March 15 — The program will be Wheirda Bentley Health Program.
Thursday, April 19 — The program will be Southeast Arkansas Arts Center.
Thursday, May 17 — The program will be education.
Also, association members will attend the Arkansas Retired Teachers Association annual Board Meeting Monday, Sept. 25, and the ARTA Convention Tuesday, Sept. 26, at the Benton Event Center.
The Jefferson County Retired Teachers Association’s dues are $10 per year. A free one year membership is available for new retirees. The association’s theme for the year is “Go Forward As Retirees.”
