Jefferson County assessor seeking reelection

Jefferson County Assessor Gloria Tillman is seeking reelection.

A native of Pine Bluff, she is a 1981 graduate of Dollarway High School. She earned a Bachelor of Science in business administration in 1986 at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, according to a news release.

“With 27 years of on-the-job experience in the assessor’s office, I will carry on my dedication to the citizens. If reelected, I will continue to work hard and serve the citizens of Jefferson County,” she said.

She began in the assessor’s office as a junior deputy assessor in the Personal Property Department.

“As I worked my way up, I assisted with commercial accounts and was later promoted to senior deputy assessor. I oversaw lease commercial accounts and assisted in the Real Estate Department. Next, I was promoted to chief deputy assessor. I managed the administrative business of the office and corresponded with city and county mayors and school superintendents,” she said.

The assessor’s office keeps public records of commercial, personal property and real estate assessments. The office also helps provide the proper paperwork to citizens to register their property and real estate property owners sign up for the Real Estate Homestead Credit while staying in compliance with state regulations, according to the news release.

Tillman’s professional involvement includes the Arkansas Assessors Association, Association of Arkansas Counties, International Association of Assessing Officers, Arkansas Chapter of the International Association of Assessing Officers, Jefferson County Association of Realtors, Jefferson County Democratic Women, Pine Bluff Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc, Life Member of NAACP, a Leadership Pine Bluff Graduate and member of the New Town Missionary Baptist Church where she serves in various ministries.

She has two adult daughters and three grandchildren.

The party filing period is Nov. 3-11, according to the secretary of state’s office. The primary election is March 3, 2026.
