Jean Smithey Hunziker, 89, of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 31, 2014, at Davis Life Care.
She was born December 5, 1924, in Pine Bluff to Lyle Monroe and Ottillia Elizabeth Campbell Smithey.
She was reared and educated in Pine Bluff, graduating from Pine Bluff High School in 1943.
Mrs. Hunziker had worked at Viking Bag before retiring in 1972 as a clerk and a receptionist.
She was a member of Central Baptist Church, Pine Bluff Canasta Club and the Order of the Eastern Star, Pines Chapter 517.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Hunziker; parents; sister, Evelyn Bell; brothers, John Robert, L. M., Tom and Edward O. Smithey.
Survivors include a son, Richard O. “Rick” Ponder of Pine Bluff; a step son, Lt. Col. John Hunziker and a step daughter, Judy Harris.
Visitation will be Thursday, 10:00-10:45 a.m. at Robinson.
Graveside service will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September, 4, 2014, in Bellwood Cemetery with Reverend Allen Elkins officiating.
