SHERIDAN — James Howard Rankin, 70 of Sheridan, Ark., died April 20, 2012 in Little Rock, Ark. He was born December 24, 1941 in Dumas, Ark., to Ocus “Sonny” and Mary Kendrick Rankin. A Baptist, James was also a veteran of the Vietnam War in the Air Force and retired after 35 yrs with International Paper Company as an Instrumental Electrician.
His mother Mary Rankin, Monticello, Ark., one son Jason Rankin, Little Rock, Ark., a daughter Stephanie Hartness, Hensley, Ark., and two granddaughters survive him. His father and two brothers Donnie and Larry Rankin preceded James in death.
Visitation will be Monday, April 23, 2012 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. with services following in Griffin Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Paul Roberts officiating and burial with Military Honors to follow in Walnut Lake Cemetery. Family request memorials made to the American Lung Association. Griffin Funeral Home, Dumas, Arkansas is in charge of arrangements.
