JEFFERSON — James E. Prather, age 76, of Jefferson died on Wednesday, August 7, 2013 in Little Rock. He was born April 10, 1937, in Dyess, Ark. to the late Warren Prather and Lydia Slaughter. He was retired from the Pine Bluff Arsenal and served in the Air Force. He was a loving, loyal, and dedicated husband and father.
He is preceded in death by his parents; Warren Prather and Lydia Slaughter; two brothers and three sisters.
He is survived by his wife of forty-four years; Jo Ann Prather, his two sons; jay Stone and wife Karen of Redfield and Dewayne Stone of Redfield; his four daughters; Tammy James and husband Mark of Pine Bluff, Beverly Ann Reeves and husband Mike of Fort Smith, Kathi Maldonado and her husband Jerry of Lawton, Okla., and Angie Prather and husband Brad Valentine of Sheridan; one brother, Wayne Prather of Pine Bluff, and three sisters; Sue Ann Beard of Searcy, Shannon Carruthers of Pine Bluff, and Toni Bogard of Pine bluff; eleven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m., Monday in the chapel of Cranford Funeral Home of White Hall. Bro. Billy West officiating. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Jones Cemetery by Cranford Funeral Home (wwwcranfordfh.com).
