James Porter
James “Buddy” Porter, age 86, of Pine Bluff died Wednesday, September
23, 2015. Born February 14, 1929 at Pine Bluff, he was a son of the
late Major Porter and Ethel Lena Dean Porter.
Mr. Porter was employed by Arkansas Power and Light Company for over
35 years and retired in 1991. Buddy was an active member of First
Immanuel Missionary Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings,
Leonard Porter, Ralph Porter, Ella Faye Folliott, Jack Porter, and
Edward Dean Porter.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Ann Oaks Porter, who he married on
December 29, 1952 at Pine Bluff; two daughters, Jamie Proffitt and
Becky Otten; a son, Dalton Porter; a step-daughter, Carolyn Mann: a
brother, Donald Porter, two sisters, Nell Struthers and Mary Stone;
six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Saturday, 10:30 a.m. First Immanuel
Missionary Baptist Church with Brother Robert Cossey officiating.
Private burial will follow in Union Cemetery by Fuller Hale-South
Funeral Services.
Visitation will be Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
