STAR CITY — James William Ashcraft, 88 of Star City went to be with The Lord on May 15, 2012. He was born on October 31, 1923 to Rosie and Monroe Ashcraft of Herbine, Ark. He was a member of First Assembly of God Star City. He was a dedicated Christian man who loved The Lord and his family. He was an ordained deacon, Sunday school superintendent, church bus ministry driver and led many lives to The Lord. He enjoyed spending time with grandkids, camping, gardening and he loved to fish. He served in World War II in the U.S. Navy from 1943-1946. He retired from Southern L.P. Gas after 38 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers and two grandchildren; Lori Ashcraft Jacobs and Tray Ashcraft.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years; Iva McEntire Ashcraft, daughter; Debra Boyles (Ron) of North Little Rock, two sons; Randy Ashcraft and Al Ashcraft (Tracy), both of Star City, grandchildren; Brandy Phillips (Josh), Candice Boyles (James), Tim Boyles and Kyle Ashcraft, great-grandchildren; Hunter, Brannon and Brooks, two brothers; Benny Ashcraft and George Ashcraft, both of Pine Bluff and a sister; Charlene Moring of Pine Bluff. He is also survived by his baby “Peaches”.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 18, 2012 at Griffin Funeral Chapel. Bro. Kenny Martin will officiate.
Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 17, 2012 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Drake Cemetery.
