Several organizations held an annual Coat Shower for Veterans on Oct. 16 at the Pine Bluff Country Club.

The Simon Bradford Chapter of the United States Daughters of 1812, John Eliot Chapter Colonial Dames XVII Century and the Daughters of Colonial Wars conducted the gathering, according to a news release.

The collection included 48 new or nearly new winter coats or jackets. Also delivered were toiletries and other clothing and shoes for men.

The approximate worth of the donation was about $2,647, thrift store prices. The Pine Bluff Triad established this tradition eight years ago.

The coats and other items were delivered that afternoon using two vehicles. To date, 150 coats have been delivered in 2024 and more will be needed, according to the news release.
