Ivy Center sets ACT Prep Workshops

The Ivy Center for Education ACT Prep Workshops will be held in the cafeteria of Pine Bluff High School, 711 W. 11th Ave., Monday and Tuesday, April 3-4.

Sessions begin with a healthy snack at 4 p.m. each day. At 4:30 p.m. Monday, a presentation will be conducted by the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff’s Learning Institute and Opportunities for New Students (LIONS) Program.

At 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, the UAPB Office of Recruitment will present a workshop and at 4:45 p.m. the Upward Bound program will make a presentation.

The ACT Prep Workshops will be held each day from 5-6:30 p.m. and the facilitators are from the University of Arkansas’ Office of Diversity Affairs Outreach.

Students in the seventh through 12th grade are encouraged to attend. Students should also bring paper and pencil.

“Students are encouraged to attend ACT Prep Workshops as often as possible to increase their scores, which can turn into great scholarships for college,” Mattie Collins, Ivy Center president, said in a news release.

Organizers need a head count for the practice material and the snacks, according to Patricia Berry, Ivy Center executive director.

Students and parents should sign up for workshops by Thursday, March 30, by emailing Mattie Collins at kencol1@msn.com or Patricia Berry at koolaidpat1@aol.com. The next ACT test will be administered nationwide Saturday, April 8.
