I’m supporting Pine Bluff School Board

Editor, The Commercial:

Based on what I read in the Pine Bluff Commercial, I support the Pine Bluff School Board because:

1. They are the lawfully elected representives of their wards.

2. They are doing what all school boards have done in the past, respresent their constituents as best they can. If their constituents are unhappy with their representation they can vote them out.

3. Why would the board act against the best interests of the district when they have children in the district?

4. This school board selected this superintendent, I presume, because they felt he was the best candidate from a candidate field put forth by a professional search team. (The “Good Lord did not send him here.”) We should be careful about what we attribute to the Good Lord.

We all know that curtain personnel and other decisions cannot be divilged in the open forum. That is why executive sessions are apparently legal despite the tenets of the Freedom of Imformation Act. This board appears to be quite harmonious and united in their decisions.

Admittedly, I am fearful of what comes next. If this termination is legal, who will the next superintendent be? Our city, and all its parts, appear to be in downward spiral with no end in sight.
