Groups to address fights, mentoring at PBHS

The Church Outreach Committee of the City of Pine Bluff and Pine Bluff Cares Mentoring will meet with Pine Bluff High School Principal Michael Nellums to address school fighting and to promote mentoring, a spokesman said.

A press conference will be held at PBHS at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 22, according to a press release from the Rev. Jesse Turner.

Organizers also plan to assist Pine Bluff School District Superintendent Michael Robinson by calling for an “hour of power” mentor recruitment effort to reduce violence and bullying on school campuses, Turner said.

All Pine Bluff clergy are invited to meet attend the effort to collecting seek mentors/men to volunteer one hour at PBHS and other schools where needed.

The Church Outreach Committee is collaborating with the ICVR Pen or Pencil initiative, Pine Bluff Cares Affiliate National CARES Mentoring, the National Alliance of Faith and Justice and the Center for Neighborhood Enterprise.
