The annual George Washington Birthday Luncheon committee announced the 19th annual luncheon was a success with more than 70 in attendance from all over the state representing colonial heritage societies as well as non-members of hereditary societies.

The speaker, Mary Stout Johnston of Alabama and past national president of Colonial Dames 17th Century presented her program “Martha Washington: The first First Lady.”

Attendees included Linda Vandenberg White and Peggy Vandenberg, both of Hot Springs, Mary Stout Johnston of Alabama, Sharon Stanley Wyatt of Pine Bluff, Jan Langley, recording secretary general of Alabama, Melrose Bagwell of Fordyce, Jerrie Townsend of Stuttgart, Pat McLemore of Mt. Ida, JoAnn Cooper of Little Rock, Cindy Crum of Stuttgart, Sheila Beatty, Jackie Patton and Judy Robbins all of Hot Springs Village, Frankie Ochsner of Hot Springs, Charles McLemore of Mt. Ida and Jimmie Weber of Hot Springs.

The colonial era heritage societies group is comprised of hereditary societies such as the Colonial Dames of America, Daughters of the American Revolution, Sons of the American Revolution, Colonial Dames 17th Century, Daughters of the American Colonists, New England Women, Jamestowne Society, Sons and Daughters of the Pilgrims and United States Daughters of 1812.

Emcee Sheila Beatty announced the 20th annual luncheon will be held Feb. 21, 2025, and the speaker will be historian Carl Flowers.
