WH Sports Hall of Fame event set

The 11th annual White Hall Sports Hall of Fame program will be held at 6:30 p.m. May 13 at the White Hall Community Center.

Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at White Hall High School front office, according to a flier on the White Hall Community Center Facebook page.

Officers to conduct torch run

The 2024 Law Enforcement Torch Run benefiting Special Olympics Arkansas will be held Saturday.

Runners will meet at 7:45 a.m. at White Hall Middle School. The torch run starts at 8 a.m. to White Hall High School, according to a flier on the White Hall Community Center Facebook page.

“Come out and support ADC (Arkansas Division of Correction) staff during the run, and stay after to help support our local Special Olympics athletes,” a spokesman said.

The torch run for Special Olympics Arkansas began in 1987 by the Arkansas Secret, according to https://www.specialolympicsarkansas.org/law-enforcement-torch-run.html.

“What began as a 30-mile run is now a four day relay that covers more than 1,200 miles and 700 runners. Now more than a run, the Law Enforcement Torch Run is a campaign to raise awareness and funds for Special Olympics. The annual LETR in Arkansas originates in over 12 locations and culminates at the site of Summer Games,” according to the website.

Master Gardeners discuss show

The Jefferson County Master Gardeners recently met to discuss final details for the Delta Blooms & Bees Home & Garden Show. The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 20 at the White Hall Community Center. Admission is free, according to a flier.

During the meeting, Belinda Brown shared Plant Sale details. County Extension Agent Timothy Wallace showed the Delta Blooms & Bees tote bag that will be available for the first 500 attendees (one per family). The Spirit Pole Team — Sheila Waddell, Belinda Randle, and Betty Gray — shared their creation for the Spirit Pole auction at the State Master Gardener Conference in Hot Springs, according to the White Hall Community Center Facebook page.

The Home & Garden Show will feature speakers, family oriented activities, a plant sale, Kids Zone, Ask the Plant Doctor (with a free diagnosis of plant problems), raffles, and vendors.

WHHS to present art showcase

The White Hall School District Art Department will display its students’ artwork in the 2024 WHSD Art Showcase, “Total Eclipse of the Art.” The showcase will be from 5-6:30 p.m. April 16 at the White Hall Community Center.

Selected works of art created by White Hall students will be featured at the event, according to the center’s Facebook page.

“Our students have been working hard and we are very proud of them,” a spokesman said.
