The Three Rivers Audubon Society announces the 15th annual Great Backyard Bird Count will be conducted Friday through Monday.
The count is coordinated by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, Audubon Society and Bird Studies Canada. Last year, 92,000 participants reported over 11 million birds. This information helps scientists by providing information about the 594 species reported.
Anyone can participate. Participants should plan to count birds for at least 15 minutes on one or more days of the count and count the greatest number of individuals of each species that is seen together at any one time. Results should be entered at www.birdcount.org
Those who do not have Internet access can report their results to a member of Three Rivers Audubon Society by contacting Claire Holmes at 870-534-2083 or Carolyn Theis at 870-535-3265.
