Grants available for projects benefiting Delta residents

Arkansas Community Foundation is accepting grant proposals for projects that improve the social and economic conditions for children and families in the Arkansas Delta region.

The deadline to apply for grants through the Arkansas Delta Endowment for Building Community is Monday, May 22, according to a news release.

Any IRS 501(c)(3) public charity, public school or government agency in these counties is eligible: Arkansas, Ashley, Chicot, Clay, Craighead, Crittenden, Cross, Desha, Drew, Greene, Independence, Jackson, Jefferson, Lawrence, Lee, Lincoln, Lonoke, Mississippi, Monroe, Phillips, Poinsett, Prairie, Randolph, St. Francis, White and Woodruff.

Applicants must submit an online application before May 22. Finalists selected during the first stage will be notified by June 1 and invited to submit a full proposal.

Proposals should address one or more of the following purposes:

• Improving the conditions of people and families in the Arkansas Delta;

• Building local capacity and infrastructure in the Arkansas Delta;

• Fostering networks and connections across the region.

Grants will generally range from $5,000 to $15,000, depending on the scope of the project. Larger requests will be considered if the applicant provides evidence that receiving a grant will enable match funding from other sources.

Applicants that don’t have nonprofit status may also be considered if the proposed project has a clear charitable purpose.

“The Arkansas Delta Endowment for Building Community provides an extraordinary opportunity to partner with organizations to build our Delta region,” said Heather Larkin, president and CEO of the Community Foundation. “While this area often faces challenges, there are many local organizations creating positive change in the Delta. Supporting their projects to build our communities is one way we can help.”
