Experience Arkansas Wines event set in Bentonville

Experience Arkansas Wines, a workshop and tasting reception, will be held Thursday, May 18, at Brightwater in Bentonville. Registration is $20/person.

The Ensuring Wine Quality Workshop for winemakers runs from 1-6 p.m. Wine enthusiasts can visit Arkansas winery booths which will include local wines, cheeses, meats and breads during the reception from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

“This is a unique opportunity to explore what the Arkansas wine industry offers,” said Renee Threlfall, wine researcher and food science associate for the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture. “Winemakers and enthusiasts can gather to learn more about the drink that brings them together.”

Workshop attendees will learn keys to winemaking and those attending the reception can sample wines from different Arkansas wineries.

Threlfall is a board member of the Arkansas Association of Grape Growers, which is hosting the event.

The Ensuring Wine Quality Workshop topics and speakers include:

• Keys to Quality Winemaking, Luke Holcombe, sales representative, Scott Labs, with locations in California and Ontario;

• Advancing Your Wine Industry Community, Jacob Holman, winemaker, Les Bourgeois Vineyards, Rocheport, Missouri;

• Identifying Wine Sensory Attributes, Renee Threlfall, research scientist, University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture;

• Trends and Technologies in the Wine Industry, Luke Holcombe;

• Promotion and Success in Grape and Wine Industries, Doniella Winchell, director, Ohio Wine Producers will give a recorded video presentation for this workshop.
