The grand finale is designed to acknowledge the contributions of Arkansans, while furthering awareness of the mainstream role that Gospel music plays in Arkansas, according to the news release.
“It’s a black-tie affair. Represent in your best formal attire,” said Dedric Jones, state coordinator of AGMHM. “Expect soul stirring guest performances and heartfelt recognitions in a night that blends reverence and celebration. Let’s come together to celebrate gospel music’s rich past and promise for future generations!”
The mission of AGMHM is to empower faith-based communities to cross racial, ethnic, religious and geographical boundaries in gospel music and emerge as one body. In June 2008, the United States Congress began recognizing September as Gospel Music Heritage Month. On Feb. 16, 2011, the Arkansas Legislature voted unanimously to commemorate September as Arkansas Gospel Music Heritage Month.
