Pine Bluff Mayor Debe Hollingsworth will open the Pumpkin Patch with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 18, at Good Faith Carr United Methodist Church, 3703 Ryburn Road.
Good Faith Carr is getting ready to welcome children and adults to pick their pumpkins as part of its sixth annual outreach event in October.
The church will be selling pumpkins to benefit local mission projects. The outreach event centers on the pumpkin patch and includes a hay ride, tunnel through the hay, crafts, popcorn and beverages.
Several hundred pumpkins will arrive at the church Saturday, Oct. 17. Church members and a lot of volunteers will unload the pumpkins onto wooden pallets, transforming the front lawn of the church into the Pumpkin Patch.
Admission is free, but the church welcomes visitors to purchase pumpkins from Sunday, Oct. 18, through Saturday, Oct. 31. The hours of operation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday; 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday; 1-5 p.m. Sunday.
The outreach event attracts many people who enjoy spending time outdoors and finding the perfect pumpkin. Organizations with large groups are asked to call the church at 879-3360 to make arrangements in advance of their arrival.
