Author and speaker Brie Arthur conducted a presentation on “Ultimate Plant Combinations,” according to a news release.

Jefferson County Master Gardeners hosted a watch party with the event catered by Belle of the Ball Catering with Cassandra Smith, Master Gardner member.

The event featured “great food, great information, great camaraderie,” a spokesman said.

New Jefferson County Master Gardeners are Carvis Campbell III, Tonya Colen, Mary Craig, Betty W. Gray, JL Peterson, Scott Roaf, Phyllis Callaway-Silas and Sheila Waddell.

The mentors are Deloris Riley, Kenneth Smith and Linda Soffer.

“Many thanks to County Extension Agent Timothy Wallace for making this event possible in Jefferson County,” according to the release.

Master Gardeners undergo training that includes 40 hours of classroom instruction. With the training, they are able to help the University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service assist the public by being able to answer a variety of questions and address problems including concerns about gardening and also by maintaining beautification projects. Their ongoing education includes such areas as botany, soil science and plant propagation.
