Friendship Baptist Ladies’ Auxiliary conducts session

On April 12, Center Missionary Baptist Church of Rowell hosted the District Ladies’ Auxiliary of the Friendship Missionary Baptist Association.

President Sandra Crofford of Southside Missionary Baptist Church at Star City presided. The meeting began with the congregational singing of “This Is My Father’s World” and various prayer requests. The Rev. “Sluggo” Norris, pastor of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church led in prayer.

Robbin Curry of the host church welcomed the 39 women and guests in attendance and Mildred Carter of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church at Dumas, responded to the welcome.

Following a roll call of nine auxiliaries and minutes of the previous meeting, the body voted for the July offering to go to the Olympic Bible Project. The mission of the project is to distribute pamphlets of Scriptures printed in several languages during the Olympic Games.

Prior to the offering for Libby Road Baptist Mission of Heber Springs, James Calhoun of Arkadelphia, representing the Arkansas State Mission Project, discussed the financial status of the mission’s building fund.

A report on The Pounding Project that provides groceries for preachers and their families, was presented by Kelly Anderson of Summit Missionary Baptist Church at Pine Bluff.

Emceed by Rhonda Blackerby of Center, the Thanksgiving/Praise portion of the meeting was combined with a program based on several verses of the song “He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands.”

Several women offered thoughts regarding each verse, and a ladies’ quartet concluded the presentation by singing “You Are Amazing, God.”

The speaker of the day was Daphene Wallace, a member of Second Missionary Baptist Church at Malvern, who has participated in the Olympic Bible Project during seven of the Olympic Games. She related several experiences and offered information about the project. Lunch was provided by the host church.

The July 12 meeting will be with Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church near Rison. Mildred Carter is the reporter for the gathering.
